Get an equity reading in three steps
- Set the hands. Tap an empty slot for a player, then tap a card in the deck below. The cursor moves on to the next empty slot by itself. Don't know what your opponent has? Leave the slot blank and it's treated as a random card.
- Add a board (optional). Leave it empty for pre-flop. The flop goes in as three cards together; after that you can add the turn and the river. With only one or two board cards, nothing is calculated.
- Read the numbers. Every change triggers a fresh calculation, and the small print below tells you whether it was exact or simulated. For multiway pots, tap “+ Add player” (up to 9).
Cards already in use are greyed out in the deck, so no card can appear twice. Tap a chosen card to clear it. “Fill randomly” deals every empty slot at once, which makes a quick hand-reading drill.
Under the hood
| Item | How it works |
|---|---|
| Games | Texas Hold'em; Omaha PLO (4 hole cards, and you must use exactly 2 of them plus 3 from the board) |
| Players | 2 to 9 |
| Exact enumeration | Used when every hand is complete and the remaining board run-outs number no more than 200,000 (4,000 in Omaha). In practice, any flop, turn or river spot with all hands known is exact: heads-up Hold'em on the flop leaves just 990 turn-and-river combinations |
| Monte Carlo | Always used pre-flop (heads-up Hold'em has 1,712,304 possible boards, too many to list) and whenever a slot is empty. Hold'em: 100,000 / 40,000 / 25,000 runs; Omaha: 15,000 / 6,000; more players means fewer runs |
| Output | Equity, win and tie rate for each player with a bar, the leader highlighted; from the flop on it also names each player's current made hand (two pair, flush and so on) |
Classic match-ups
All of these were run on the same hand evaluator the calculator uses; the three pre-flop rows enumerate every possible board.
| Match-up | Board | Equity |
|---|---|---|
| A♠K♠ vs Q♥Q♦ | Pre-flop | 46.2% vs 53.8% |
| A♥K♦ vs 2♣2♠ | Pre-flop | 47.0% vs 53.0% |
| A♠A♥ vs K♠K♥ | Pre-flop | 82.6% vs 17.4% |
| A♥Q♥ vs K♠J♠ | K♥ 8♥ 3♣ | 45.6% vs 54.4% |
| Same hands, turn 2♦ | K♥ 8♥ 3♣ 2♦ | 27.3% vs 72.7% |
The last two rows teach the most. On the flop, the nut flush draw with an ace kicker is almost level with top pair. One blank on the turn and it drops to 27.3%. With a single card to come, draws lose value fast.
Omaha runs much closer than Hold'em
ClubGG spreads both 4-card and 5-card Omaha. With four hole cards each player has six two-card combinations to work with, so a big pair is worth far less than in Hold'em:
- Hold'em, A♠A♥ vs K♠K♥: about 82.6% vs 17.4%.
- Omaha, A♠A♥J♠10♥ vs K♣K♦Q♣J♦: about 65% vs 35% (simulated).
- Omaha, A♠A♦K♥Q♣ vs J♥10♥9♣8♣: about 54% vs 46%. A double-suited rundown nearly catches the aces.
At a PLO table, pre-flop all-ins are rarely big edges, and the post-flop decisions carry the weight. PLO5 isn't supported here yet; as a rule, the more hole cards, the closer the equities get.
Pot odds calculator
Minimum equity to call = the call ÷ (pot before the bet + the bet + your call). Pot 100, opponent bets 50: 50 ÷ 200 = 25%, or odds of 150 to 50, which is 3 to 1.
Back to the turn example above, where you have 27.3%. Facing a half-pot bet (you need 25%), calling makes money over time. Facing a pot-sized bet (100 into 100, you need 33.3%), pot odds alone say fold, unless you're confident you'll win extra bets when you hit (implied odds).
Outs calculator
Outs are the cards still in the deck that should turn your hand into the best one. The calculator treats your opponents' hole cards as unseen, so it counts 47 unknown cards on the flop and 46 on the turn.
| Outs | Typical draw | Flop → river | Turn → river | Rule of 4 and 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Gutshot | 16.5% | 8.7% | 16% / 8% |
| 8 | Open-ended straight draw | 31.5% | 17.4% | 32% / 16% |
| 9 | Flush draw | 35.0% | 19.6% | 36% / 18% |
| 12 | Flush draw + ace overcard | 45.0% | 26.1% | 48% / 24% |
| 15 | Flush draw + open-ender | 54.1% | 32.6% | 60% / 30% |
Past 8 outs, “times four” overshoots more and more. And in the example above, 12 outs with your opponent's cards known is 12 ÷ 44 = 27.3%, while counting 46 unknown cards gives 26.1%. That small gap is expected.
Putting it to work on ClubGG
- Review after the session. Plug your big all-ins and big pots into the calculator and check whether the call or shove was worth it. WSOP+ membership on ClubGG includes PokerCraft stats, which pair well with this; see WSOP+ membership.
- EV Cashout. ClubGG has this feature, and the “EV” stands for expected value. Once you understand all-in equity, the option makes a lot more sense.
- Not during a hand. Keep these tools for study, away from the table.
